When it comes to mindset most of us think of it as the soft stuff, yet it’s very hard, very solid, probably the most powerful “stuff” there is.
Having found the truth of it I can demonstrate that mastering your mindset is actually incredibly practical and surprisingly powerful.
For instance Mahatma Gandhi took on the entire British Empire and won without an army, without force, without property, without any real belongings at all. Ghandhi was able to pull together the collective will power of a nation and fermented a movement.
Ghandhi was the one that gave it legs and made it happen. Gandhi led India to independence and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world. Today places like Scotland and Catalonia are still inspired.
Former American presidents such as Harry Truman and Abraham Lincoln were multiple failures and it must have been hard to get over and if they rated themselves based on their own failure they never would have moved forward. Instead they saw failure as a stepping stone and fought to become president.
Most recently the latest president of The United States was not even a politician! Trump is a result of the ‘soft stuff’ that appealed to so many Americans. Even though previous presidents campaigned on the same basis even using the same phrases as Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton.
Thomas Edison was made partially deaf when very young as he was lifted onto a train by his ears! Later in life he attributed his success to not being able to hear all the chatter and claims that his success was his ability to listen in to his inner voice.
In my consulting business I have spoken to many clients who have made it, lost it, yet know that they can do it as they did once before and are positive of their ability to do it again. I have performed the trick of wealth more than once myself too.
There are many who see opportunity, then immediately discover obstacles and look for the safety of other peoples money. It makes sense, although most often leads to nothing or failure. The focus is on other people clearing the obstacles, when in truth the person that needs to clear the obstacles is you. It is the mindset that you need to solve and overcome that will help you the most.
I remember in the early dot com years everyone else took their ideas to the city to raise money. The city largely said no. I had a different idea. I just set up in business with nothing and quickly got the money I needed from clients by providing the service promised.
As a result I retained 100% ownership and sold the business not once but twice and nearly a third and fourth time, ultimately ending up keeping most of the money and 100% of the ownership. That was one of my “soft” ideas that delivered solid results.
The difference in all examples of tangible success, is how adversity is overcome. You will struggle with failure and yet not accept defeat. There is always a better way.
I welcome “no” to the things that I want, as I know it just gets me closer to a “yes”. As one door slams shut, another swings open. That is about as woo-woo soft as it gets, yet it is incredibly, consistently true and hard as nails.
Think about it. The solution is in your mind.
To help you along I have some stretch exercises and some “funny” stories at a site I have been working on, it’s called opt-in.co.uk. To get the free training offered you are required to opt-in.
There you will find a core exercise that will stretch your mind, it touches on areas that are absolutely vital to our very lives, yet few ever get the opportunity to think them.
I would value your opinion on this the rarest of rare subjects: your future.
The site is not perfect and it’s not complete. I know that, and yet it’s not holding me back. In fact knowing that it is not right helps. So far I have had excellent feedback from those that have already opt-in and through listening it is now more right than it was.
Go check it out. Make up your own mind.
Say hello, I would appreciate your feedback.
