As it’s Mindset Monday I have to tell you that one of the best mindfulness “solutions” is to sleep. Sleeping is the most peaceful and powerful exercise you can do, it’s very good for the mind.
I used to think that mindset was hocus pocus, fuzzy, false, not real, B.S. However, over recent years I have come discover that there are significant benefits to be had.
Sleeping hits the reset button. I have an overnight drawer process for anything contentious or big decisions that need thinking about. I always wake up refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to review the new day, sometimes ditching what I thought so important the day before. It’s a real bonus to know that sleeping can keep me out of trouble.
As CEO of our own life our main task is always to make sure that sales come in and that clients are happy. We look to give clients what they want and in return we expect a life of peace, satisfaction and more. This helps us to sleep better.
I have just recorded a short story on how I met my wife and ‘sold myself to her’. I mention it as it the perfect application of sleep and creating peace of mind. Plus it is a great story. It was a time when I unexpectedly found myself single and had no clue.
On the surface the story reads like a fairy tale and it was. To overcome the problems of dating, no smut intended: I slept on it. I ended up purposely engineering the outcome. Anyone can do it, the process I employed applies to any life issue, it was a lot of fun and in our case, we have handsome, charming, wholesome son to show for it.
The reality is that the method I used can be applied to getting anything you want – in life and in business. It just comes down to how much you want it.
Back then, at that time I wanted to not be single. I was definitely not asleep, I was awake and taking action. Since then I have come to realise that this really is a method that anyone can apply to their business too.
If you would like to be awakened by my story and learn how you can punch above your weight you can by opting in to a site I have owned for 20 years or so, the stories, lessons, examples and templates there are completely free. Enjoy.
The common strand is that we all want freedom and peace of mind. We want to be free from worry, inferiority and negativity. We even want to be free of want!
We need to overcome self induced problems which can chronically degrade life, like the depression that stems from self doubt and dissatisfaction, that from time to time holds us all back.
We know we cannot get all that we want for nothing. For instance, even if access to my site is free, I show you what work there is to do to get what you want. I don’t charge for access, yet the rewards you want will stem from the effort that you put in.
That is the secret.
Positively you will experience joy from achievement and accomplishment. This is the joy of being able to control and predict outcomes by doing things for yourself as a result of your own strategic planning and thinking.
There are joys that become so self fulfilling that it can give you new habits. For instance you can acquire the habit of thinking more about how you can help others in the knowledge that in doing so you will help yourself. This in turn leads to checking your own views of others to their benefit, so that you gain the habit of helping others to help themselves. This in turn will allow you to discover and enjoy the habit of going the extra mile for others.
You will discover the habit of focussing on what you want to do and know you can do it. This is a lot better than getting hung up on the obstacles that could block your path. You’ll get the habit of laughing at your own misfortunes and mistakes that occur in all our lives (me more than others!)
Thus you will discover how to thwart negativity before it overtakes you. You will realise the learned benefits of the habit of giving before the getting.
Peace of mind covers a surprisingly broad field and applies to every walk of work and life. When you find yourself frustrated with just one thing you need to do, the one thing that is holding you back, you can be certain that you will overcome, as you have already overcome so much already.
Oddly enough, one of the best mindfulness ’solutions’ is to sleep on things. Sleeping is the most powerful and peaceful exercise you can do, it’s also very good for the mind. You might be so busy you can’t sleep. My response is that it is never too late to discover the benefits of the power nap!
Sleep in tomorrow!
